Weekly Meeting Review: Lexus Eco Challenge Ideas

During Monday's meeting, we reviewed what occurred during the People's Climate March (a huge thank you to Kevin and Martine for attending and being our EcoClub representatives for a more environmentally sustainable future!) and brainstormed more ideas for the Lexus Eco Challenge. The two most popular ideas so far are to improve public transportation in Carmel Valley by petitioning to have a bus running along Del Mar Heights Road (which would be especially helpful for students going to and from school!) and to address the issue of water pollution by petitioning to mandate grates over storm drains so that large pieces of trash will not get washed into the system. For next week, keep brainstorming more ideas for projects we might be able to do!

We will begin working on the native plant garden very soon! I spoke to Mr. Mueller again this week about our plans, and he is completely on board with our plans. I plan on purchasing the wood by the end of next week, so we will probably begin building in a couple of weeks.

Additionally, there will be a beach clean-up this Sunday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 in Moonlight Beach! Please sign up to carpool here.

Also, please contribute any ideas you have for the EcoTip of the Week here.

We also need to start making signs for Club Day (October 9th during lunch) and our first E-Waste Drive of the year (October 13 - 17th), so please bring any posters or poster-making materials (pens, markers, etc.) that you have that we could use to next week's meeting. We will be having a huge sign-making session that day!

As always, there will be recycling on Friday after school; please meet next to the C building stairs if you are available to help out!
